- Our Vision -

The Division of Student Services' vision reflects our commitment to high academic achievement for all students and a belief that student learning is a shared responsibility of everyone in the Denver Public Schools.

Given that students' academic success is dependent on their physical health and social-emotional well being, all students will:

  • Possess emotional well being to assume responsibility, value self and others and effectively self-advocate.
  • Use appropriate social and self-management skills for productive relationships to connect positively with school and community.
  • Demonstrate personal responsibility by maintaining physical health.

And, all students with disabilities will:

  • Demonstrate ongoing, measurable academic growth.
  • Acquire, use and maintain unique skills necessary to participate in the general education curriculum and be life-long learners.
  • Develop independent living skills to meet personal needs and goals.

Our vision will occur by ensuring:

  • Systems to continuously monitor each student's academic progress.
  • Processes to use progress-monitoring data to plan for students' instructional needs.
  • An array of research-based and culturally relevant interventions with varying levels of intensity and focus.
  • A comprehensive system to prevent and intervene in the area of students' unique social-emotional and physical health needs.
  • A systematic, non-biased, instructionally relevant process for identifying students for Special Education services.
  • Additional levels of support for students who require intensive and/or specialized services.
  • An atmosphere where parents and community are invited and welcome partners focused on their children's instructional needs.
  • Qualified personnel with skills to use data to provide appropriate research-based instructional practices to meet the unique needs of their students.
